Restoring Trust and Building a New Standard in Residential Engineering
“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established”
From the Desk of Caleb Vorpahl, President of StructSolve Engineering
Over the years, I’ve seen the residential construction industry plagued by mistrust and misinformation. Homeowners are unsure whether they can trust contractors. Contractors often clash with municipality engineers. Realtors are skeptical of contractors, and contractors don’t always trust manufacturers. All of this is compounded by price markups, dishonest sales practices, and inflated insurance claims.
This fragmented system has left homeowners vulnerable and uncertain. But this isn’t just a flaw in the system—it’s a gap that exists because residential engineering hasn’t been a standard part of the equation.
At StructSolve, we exist to fill that gap.
Residential engineering isn't just something we offer - it's something we're inventing
This isn’t a service homeowners are used to seeking out, but it’s a service that’s critically needed. Think about it: a licensed, impartial engineer, unaffiliated with contractors, realtors, or manufacturers, ensuring that every decision is based solely on truth and the best interests of the homeowner. It seems like it should have always been a given. Yet - it seems like establishing an engineering firm specifically for residential properties is a lot more challenging than it is rewarding. Thankfully, my team and I have been up for the challenge!
Take this recent example:
A homeowner, already $30,000 into foundation work, was being asked to pay another $30,000. Unsure if she was being misled, she called us. When we inspected the situation, what we found was alarming:
1) The initial $30k had not been used to solve the actual foundation problem.
2) The next $30k wouldn’t have fixed it either.
3) Instead, we identified the real issues for the home and worked with the original contractor to create a plan that resolved the problem without wasting more time or money.
4) Because of our commitment to truth, the homeowner was able to get back on track. The contractor didn't lose a client, but became more repatable in the community for working with us on getting these changes implemented!
This is why we exist:
We’re here to make sure homeowners don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. We’re here to bring integrity, impartiality, and expertise to the construction process. And most importantly, we’re here to restore trust in an industry that desperately needs it. This isn’t just about fixing homes—it’s about fixing the process.
At StructSolve, we welcome everyone in the construction process—homeowners, contractors, realtors, manufacturers—but we operate with one guiding principle: The Truth is what these homes need to be founded on.
Let’s ensure that every home is Founded on Truth, together!
